Campaign Overview

RTC has the capability of presenting a scripted message when a match is identified with the vehicle VIN. The script will be presented to the user when making a booking and when accessing the booking in workshop management.

Workshop Management Application – when accessing the booking while the vehicle is on-site

When making a booking for a customer with one of the vehicles with a matching VIN in the ‘LINK’ application

The campaign table holds the name of the campaign, the brand, start and end dates if required and the repaircode to add to the booking. The campaigndata table holds the VIN data linked to the campaign which can be manually inserted into the local sql database or in the case of one of the OEM's providing the data we also have the ability to upload a file into a tool installed on the app server within the Online Request Store (ORS) infrastructure. The tool can then process the file down to the selected groups which are connected via VPN to the ORS.

ORS File Processing

1. The brands will typically provide a file via a secure system. We will receive an email notifying us that a file is available.

2. Clicking on the link will take you to the secure website

3. Download the file

4. Check the file

The file should be a CSV format, should not contain any title. This is easily checked by opening in notepad.

5. Uploading and processing the file

  • Connect to the Bury VPN
  • Remote desktop to the ORS app server (51.140.72.51)
  • Move any old files into the archive directory before uploading the current file.
  • On the desktop you will find the Verify Setup tool, once open click on the import data tab
  • Ensure you have the correct groups selected, in the case of an Audi campaign update not all the groups have the Audi brand and vice versa for Volkswagen. Any group selected incorrectly may generate an error as the campaign may not exist on that server.
  • Select the campaign to update then click the upload file button and browse to the file containing the VIN list.
  • Select yes to updating the timestamp
  • After a few minutes of processing the process will complete showing in green those which have processed successfully. Any which show in red will need further investigation.
